Asclepias

Asclepias is a species of milkweed native to eastern North America. They range in height from ten to forty inches tall and are known for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to their clustered orange and yellow flowers.

Native Americans used extracts from wet coughs and other pulmonary ailments. Use of milkweed is not allowed during pregnancy or lactation due to its cardiac glycosides.
