Gerbera

This relative of the sunflower is native to Africa, South America and tropical Asia. Named after a German botanist Traugott Gerber, it is also known as the African Daisy. Its beautiful blooms are the fifth most popular cut flower, ranking after roses, carnations, chrysanthemums and tulips.

The Gerbera is an annual, which needs full sun. Its blooms measure from 2 – 4 inches and very in color, including red, orange, white, yellow and pink. The Gerbera attracts bees, birds and butterflies and resists deer.
